Missouri MAP Reading Fluency and Dyslexia Dates---PLEASE ADJUST TESTING WINDOW TO BETTER FIT SCHOOLS SCHEDULES
MAP Fluency and MAP Dyslexia Screener are both Missouri approved RSP vendors. The issue I am coming across is the testing windows that NWEA has set up does not match the timeline of the testing window that DESE (Department of Elementary and Secondary Education) for the state of Missouri. NWEA MAP Fluency Dates are as followed:
Fall: June-November 30
Winter: December 1-February 28 (Feb 29 on leap years)
Spring: March 1-June
Missouri Guidelines of when we are REQUIRED to administer the MAP Fluency and Dyslexia Screener are the following:
Fall: grades 1-3 first 30 calendar days of school
Winter:grade K before December 31
Spring: grades K-3 last 30 calendar days of school
*grades 4-5 for any students on a RSP (Reading Success Plan from 22-23)
*K-5 if we have a new enrollee within 30 calendar days of enrollment into our district
The Fall window needs to be shorter and the Winter window needs to be larger (most school districts are OFF for 2 weeks for Holiday/Christmas Break in December, OFF MLK Day in January, OFF Presidents Day in February and several districts in Missouri are off in December-February due to inclement weather) therefore the SECOND WINDOW is entirely too short. Please consider this request!
Here is my suggestion for Missouri Windows for MAP Fluency and Dyslexia Screener:
Fall-August-October
Winter-November-February
Spring-March-June
Or another suggestion would be to allow school district to customize their testing windows based on their district calendars to account for days off such as PD days, Spring Breaks, Winter Breaks, various observed Holidays, voting dates (some schools close down on those days), etc.
Thank you for your consideration in this matter!
