faster slow down sloth
Can the slow down sloth be set up within the MAP test to appear more quickly? We recognize this is a product change but are hoping it can be seriously considered.
Our team has noticed a critical feature of MAP NWEA is not quite what it could be. There is a "slow down sloth" that appears when students take the MAP test too quickly, randomly clicking through the answers. This was a feature we were excited about when we first moved to NWEA assessments.
The sloth is a great feature but is too slow to appear and misses many students who are just clicking through without actually trying. A student can still click through the test fairly quickly without the slow down sloth appearing and complete the test in less than 15 minutes. Can the slow down feature be updated by NWEA to appear more quickly to remind more students to slow down?
We are using suggested student test engagement and rapid guessing techniques but a faster slow down sloth appearance would be very helpful. Lowering the rapid guessing threshold for the sloths appearance would help. 3 consecutive rapid guesses in a row, based on average student response time, is just too slow. Could it be changed to 2 rapid guesses in a row, based on average student response time? I'm not sure why even 1 rapid guess would be allowed unless of course the average response time would then perhaps turn out to frustrate the faster than average students??
Please let us know if this is a possibility. It could really be impactful in student learning.
