Our K-1 students use iPads to MAP test and also receive their test read aloud, however due to the fact that MAP allows students to tap on answer choices before even hearing the question, we have students literally tap-tap-tapping their way through the assessment before even hearing a question or the answer choices. i-Ready has flaws, but one thing i-Ready did RIGHT was to lock student answer choices until the system had finished reading the question aloud AND all of the answer choices. At that time, the answer choices unlocked so students could pick the correct answer. Without the locking feature, students "play" the MAP assessment like they play all the other games on their iPads and just tap whatever pops up and looks good, ESPECIALLY our kindergarteners!

PLEASE, please lock answer choices for K-2 read alouds until the question and answer choices have been read!!! Our students deserve the chance to show what they know rather than be tested on their impulsivity levels.
