  1. We would like the feature where admins are the only ones able to terminate tests. We have had issues this year with staff members terminating instead of suspending tests. This causes the student to have to start the test over.

  2. It would be helpful if you could add an alert on the proctor console to show the test is invalid once it's completed, especially in cases where the test doesn't meet the minimum test duration requirements.

  3. When completing a MAP assessment, early learners are often still developing foundational digital interaction skills, including the use of iPads, touch interfaces, or mouse-based navigation. Requiring multiple interaction modalities to answer questions can introduce unnecessary user-interface complexity and cognitive load.

From a usability and assessment-validity perspective, limiting response interactions to a single, consistent mechanic—such as drag-and-drop—would reduce confusion related to interface operation. For example, when a learner clicks on an answer and does not understand why it is not moving or responding as expected, the resulting difficulty reflects challenges with the interface design rather than the learner’s cognitive understanding of…

  4. I have noticed that younger learners with the Read Aloud option have a hard time understanding that they need to go back and and pick an answer. They either listen to the first choice - see that the button popped up and assume they got it right and move on. OR they listen to all 4 choices - answer in their head - and move on leaving the last answer selected.

If the listen button could be unlinked from the multiple choice answers that would really help us get better data.

  5. Page 13 of the Proctor Guide https://teach.mapnwea.org/impl/ProctorGuide.pdf states that selecting "Do Not Confirm: Terminates the original test and restricts the student from taking the test again this term." This is not accurate. My teachers are confused enough as it is with all the different menu options - please maintain accurate documentation to support your users!

  6. Our K-1 students use iPads to MAP test and also receive their test read aloud, however due to the fact that MAP allows students to tap on answer choices before even hearing the question, we have students literally tap-tap-tapping their way through the assessment before even hearing a question or the answer choices. i-Ready has flaws, but one thing i-Ready did RIGHT was to lock student answer choices until the system had finished reading the question aloud AND all of the answer choices. At that time, the answer choices unlocked so students could pick the correct answer. Without the locking…

  7. It is essential that assessment design aligns with evidence-based instructional practices. When there is a disconnect between how students are taught and how they are assessed, the validity and reliability of the resulting data are compromised (American Educational Research Association, American Psychological Association, & National Council on Measurement in Education, 2014).
In classroom instruction, students are explicitly taught research-supported strategies such as previewing questions to establish purpose and flagging items to revisit. These practices are grounded in cognitive science. Research demonstrates that reducing cognitive load improves performance and accuracy (John Sweller, 1988), while metacognitive strategies such as self-monitoring and revisiting…

  8. Here is the thing, often times student may have a extremely high understanding of the topic, and starting off low is simply troublesome since you would ever reach your full potential, if you are unlucky enough to be paired with bugged system that won't allow you to get one step near the next RIT range. If we start hard first, then its easier to determine the students' full potential, rather than the base of their knowledge.

  10. Currently, students can take a practice test, but the correct answer is not provided. Provide the correct answer after each question and explain the answer.

  12. It would be great if you added a skills check for multiplication and division facts.

Multi digit would also be great but anything would help!

  14. I would love it if there was an embedded dictionary. We have a standardized test in the state of Texas that has an embedded dictionary for all students and it would be wonderful if NWEA had one.

  16. Students who need TTS for all content should be able to use the embedded TTS feature within MAP - they should not have to learn to use a new tool like a screen reader just to access text in images and graphics. Screen readers will also read navigation buttons and other text on the screen that is not a part of the test item potentially creating confusion and adding cognitive load.

Please build images and graphics for test items that can be read aloud by the embedded TTS within MAP.

  17. Please change the wording to avoid confusion from:
"Common fix, try: Ctrl+Shift+0 and Refresh"

    to

"Common fix, try: Ctrl+Shift+0 then Refresh"

I have students and teachers coming to me every testing season, and this could be avoided by changing one word.

It does not have to be exactly this, just something to convey the message that you don't press Refresh at the same time as Ctrl+Shift+0

And perhaps add in "(zero)", because I have students reading it as "O"

  18. At the end of the 2-5 elementary test, the students do not always click the final blue button. Then their data is lost in space and if it is not logged into later to click the final blue button, the data can disappear. The issue comes with using Chromebooks, and the screen does not display the final blue button and the student would have to scroll down to see it. This is often overlooked, especially in 2nd grade, because the year before they saw a cute puppy dog that said "great job". Can this button be removed and the "great…

  19. For the Algebra 1, Geometry & Algebra 2 tests, I would like the Desmos graphing calculator to be available for students for all questions. This is how instruction is in the classroom, as well as what's available for all questions on the state end of year test. Please make this available for the MAP growth tests OR make it an accommodation we can turn on for our students since now even the SAT/ACT/AP exams have this built in as well.

  20. This format and layout are completely developmentally inappropriate for early childhood education students. I watched time and time again students who were attempting to answer questions correctly but couldn't because they were trying to drag images, words, or numbers. The idea of having to click it just the 'right way' so it is highlighted with a dotted box around it, and then click where to put it is insane. Further, when students were attempting to formulate sight words or sentences, some were trying to put them in order but because they weren't clicking on the exact correct spot on the…
