  1. The app is outdated in comparison to all the educational apps we have on the IPADS these days. We have had so many issues with students not being able to slide words or numbers, but click to get the dots in order to move. It needs to be updated. It's not user friendly, we actually had a student who had to click down to get the right answer, move words to match in the click down and way too many steps. Gotta find a better way.

  4. We use the NWEA Web-based MAP Automated Report Services to retrieve data export files and recently moved the scripts to a new linux server. We had some difficulty getting these scripts to run; I think adding some additional instructions may help.

    The first issue was retrieving the required Perl packages via the cpanm utility, per the recommendation on https://www.cpan.org/modules/INSTALL.html. That approach yields a failure during the building and testing step for the package WWW:Curl::Easy. To work around this, we used the system package manager to install the curl related dependencies for retrieve_dex.pl:
    sudo dnf update
    sudo dnf install perl-WWW-Curl

  5. Please notify your users IN ADVANCE for upcoming maintenance not only on the status page but also the connection page specifically for Maintenance Time: https://connection.nwea.org/s/system-maintenance-windows?language=en_US

    It is not helpful at all inserting a not-in-time (have to refresh to check the latest update) log in notification for an upcoming maintenance time within several hours. It is very difficult for schools to reschedule everyone with the last-minute notice. Especially international schools that are not in the PDT time zone.

    It is particularly not helpful if everyone will have to wait till the admin sees the notice and react to it. Please send…

  6. MAP should PROACTIVELY post a message on their website and/or send immediate communication to their stakeholders when they're experiencing internal issues, i.e. today's server issue, RATHER THAN waiting for stakeholders to contact them, wait on the phone for hours of time, to find out what the issue is. Today's server error was INCREDIBLY disruptive to our EOY testing schedule and school community. The communication from MAP was not there and could have mitigated many of these frustrations.

  7. Rather than not answering your phone or chat when there is a known testing issue, why don't you post a message on the website. Better yet, you could email local administrators. I had better things to do today than be on hold for 30+ minutes. PS I never received a call back, as promised multiple times.

  8. When getting kicked out of the test, and seeing an "error" message, or issue with the testing site. It would be nice to have a "report an issue" button that we can click. The status page takes a while to get updated and instead of having to sit on chat for over an hour just to say "hey, there's an issue. Did you know?" We could do something to make sure you knew - like click a button. Teachers are people of action - waiting around without any info about why we can't test, is very stressful. Especially when we…

  9. To help build student confidence the test starts out with 2-3 easy (on grade-level or below) field questions. These questions do not have to count towards the test score. I have given this assessment several times and on the first or second question, I have students crying defeated because the question is so hard.

  10. Proctors should not be able to administer a test. I have had multiple proctors terminate multiple tests because a student thinks they are not done with a test (forgot they finished with a different teacher a different day), and the teacher gets flustered and terminates the test, thinking they can reset it so the student can be assigned a new test. Please make it much more difficult to terminate a test so this is not accidentally done. Thanks!

  11. It would be helpful to have the ability for a testing administrator or testing coordinator to pull a report before testing has begun, but after sessions have been created, that shows which accommodations have been assigned to the students. This would allow administrators to confirm that the correct accommodations have been assigned to students before the test is given with the incorrect accommodations.

  12. Please make available in the profile report (school especially) previous years to match the term tested and term rostered. Term rostered can only go back to the 23-24 school year. I need it to go back to the 21-22 and 22-23 school year.

  13. When a nightly roster data import from Classlink fails to post, generate an email notification to the district administrators making them aware of the failure. I just happened to be in NWEA investigating an unrelated issue and noticed that our nightly sync from Classlink had a "cancelled" status each night for over a month due to a new program code being added by the student information system administrator. I had no idea that new students were not being added to NWEA for all that time. I am told that such notifications happen for Clever districts, but that it isn't set…

  15. It is currently a very cumbersome process to re-import our setup every term. It should not be difficult to permit rollover from previous terms, and allow individual students to be excluded from the process.

As a consultant who works with multiple charter schools, I currently have to provide a separate email address to each school in order to establish a MAP account to access reports, etc. Please provide an option to assign multiple districts to one email address, then have the user select the district they want to access when they log in. Other sites like Panorama, WASC portal, etc. provide this functionality.

  17. NWEA in schools could be improved by implementing a system that automatically groups students into centers based on their specific needs within a given topic. By analyzing assessment data, NWEA could place students who need reinforcement in a particular skill together, allowing teachers to provide more targeted instruction. This would make small-group instruction more effective, ensuring that students receive the support they need while working alongside peers at a similar level. Additionally, this approach would help teachers differentiate instruction more efficiently, reducing the time spent manually grouping students and allowing for a more seamless learning experience.

  18. Reports print out the student's first and last name, but is missing the student's middle initial. This helps when merging different reports from different resources.

  20. We need a way to calculate growth goals based on improving achievement percentiles compared to the normed growth goals currently set. We have students far below grade level and these norms do not end up growing student percentiles.
